Etymology[]

"Yurka" derives from Kazácuhalmi yür ká "rural land" and refers to the country mostly consisting of countryside. Originally adopted to the federation as no other name could be decided for the whole territory, it remained the name when Yurka became independent.

The Tai Vang names for Yurka, which include Sa Meng, originate from Kazácuhalmi "territory" and màng "sparsely populated" (which then becomes màng sá "sparsely populated territory").

History[]

Yurka became independent from the Betchian Empire on June 7, 1017, previously having been a federation within the empire.

While Yurka has always been democratic, the first leader to declare themselves democratic was Geunain Armiv who became the leader in 1579.

The present-day territory of Yurka was part of the Greater Yurkish Union from 1017 until 1597 when it was replaced by the Yurkish Empire. The same year, the empire was dragged into the Pitonian-Yurkish conflict, a conflict which would last all the way to 2013. Between 1836 to 1927 parts of the empire were part of Talrs. The empire was officially dissolved on December 31, 1991.

Behind the scenes[]

Yurka (likely of gibberish origin) was created as late as February 2011 and originally had completely different territory.

The word "Yurkish" and its Swedish equivalent "yurkiska" among others originate from the word "Turkish" (in Swedish turkiska).
